The Village of Clive is subject to Alberta’s Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and Access to Information Act (ATIA). Together, these Acts support transparency in municipal government while protecting the privacy of personal information held by the Village.
Your Privacy and Access Rights
Under POPA and ATIA, individuals may:
- request access to their own personal information held by the Village;
- request correction of their personal information where they believe it contains an error or omission;
- request access to other Village records, subject to exceptions provided by legislation;
- make a privacy complaint regarding the Village’s collection, use or disclosure of personal information; and
- request a review by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC) where provided for under the legislation.
How We Protect Personal Information
The Village collects, uses and discloses personal information only as authorized by law and takes reasonable measures to protect personal information in its custody or under its control.
The Village has established a Privacy Management Program to guide how personal information is collected, used, disclosed, protected, retained and securely disposed of.
